Superfan spends thousands on ‘Stranger Things’ display at home

A Halloween fanatic has gone all out this year with a "Stranger Things"-themed display - taking a whole month off work to bring the spooky spectacle to life.

Jasson Obomsawin, 40, hand-made figures from the hit Netflix series to decorate his front lawn in Oneida, New York, for Halloween.

The incredible display features a 12-foot-tall Demogorgon, a seven-foot-tall Vecna and a floating figure of Max from her iconic scene in season four.

Jasson spent roughly $2,000 on materials for the display, dedicated weeks to constructing the figures, and then spent three days setting everything up.

This marks Jasson's third year decorating his lawn with a Stranger Things theme, but next Halloween will be the final installation, following with the show’s final season release.

Jasson said: "It's been so fulfilling to see the whole thing come together.

"I take off work every October for a full month to prepare and maintain the display."

Jasson first decorated his lawn for Halloween in 2022 after attending a guided tour of Stranger Things filming locations in Atlanta.

He said: "I was inspired.

"An artistic friend of mine that we were visiting in Georgia said I should give it a try.

"This is my first attempt at anything artistic, but I've always been a fan of Halloween."

Every single element of the display is handmade, aside from a grandfather clock.

Some characters, such as Eleven, Robin, and Eddie, are created from modified mannequins while others are built on skeleton or iron pipe frames.

Jasson also recreated some iconic sets, including Castle Byers, and added audio effects throughout the display.

For example, the Eddie figure perched on the roof, surrounded by bats, plays Metallica’s "Master of Puppets" in reference to his tear-jerking death scene.

Jasson explained: "The 12-foot Demogorgon is made from the frame of a 12-foot skeleton and Vecna was made from a seven-foot skeleton with spray foam, shop towels and latex paint added on top.

"Castle Byers was made from dead sumac wood found along a field.

"The big Mind Flayer next to Eleven is made from a cast iron pipe frame that I designed wrapped in checked wire and solar shading.

"Max is made of pool noodles and copper wire but I plan to upgrade her next year.

"She has audio that is inside of her so it sounds like she is actually listening to the music when you look up.

"The demo-bats around Eddie are store bought vampire bats that are slightly modified and I custom-made the mobile they turn on."
