These stunning photos show the biggest magnolia tree in the UK, which has bloomed early due to milder weather.

Planted 90 years ago, the Magnolia campbellii located at Lukesland Gardens, Devon, has the largest spread of any of its kind in the country.

Drone shots show co-owner of the gardens, Lorna Howell, admiring the tree on Wednesday, March 4.

Ever since it was planted in 1936 by Lorna's husband's grandfather, the tree has continued to grow.

The national tree register measures trees' height, age and girth and whilst this magnolia doesn't win across the categories nationally, the overall size of the plant makes it the biggest in Britain.

The Gardens will be open to the public a week earlier than planned as the magnolia has already bloomed.
