Former home of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour on sale for $1.4 million

The stunning former home of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour is up for sale for $1.4m - and comes with its own private lake and island.

Woodley, a grand estate in Roydon, Essex, was where the guitar god resided during the early years of the band's success.

The five-bedroom home sits on 4.66 acres of park-like grounds, along with a range of outbuildings that Gilmour is rumored to have recorded in.

The estate even features a one-acre lake with a private island.

The property is being sold by estate agents Savills, with a guide price of $1.4m.

Gilmour joined legendary rock band Pink Floyd in 1967, shortly before the departure of founding member Syd Barrett.

As a member of the band, he was inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005.

Gilmour bought Woodley in the early 1970s, during the early years of the group's early commercial success, following Barrett's departure, and lived there with his first wife, Ginger Gilmour.

Approached via a gravel driveway and sitting in grounds of 4.66 acres, the remote, five-bedroom property still stands out as a gem, despite being in need of a little modernization.

The ground floor boasts three reception rooms, a kitchen/breakfast room, a utility room, a pantry and a guest cloakroom, whilst the first floor is home to five bedrooms and a family bathroom.

The surrounding grounds are mainly laid to grass, with a lake at the far end that extends to about an acre and includes a private island.

The estate also features several outbuildings, including garages, stables and a summer house.

Woodley is nestled on the outskirts of Roydon, between the neighbouring towns of Harlow and Broadley Common.
