NASA shares 12,000 more jaw-dropping photos from Artemis II mission

NASA has quietly made 12,000 more breathtaking photos from the recent Moon mission available.

The space agency said Monday, May 4: Start your week with some new photos from Artemis II! Though our journey around the Moon has ended, we're still retrieving plenty of new images."

The images were snapped by the Artemis II crew during their record-breaking 10-day journey last month, which saw the spacecraft circle the far side of the moon before returning to Earth.

Whereas a few dozen pictures have already been released, the official database now shows 12,217 available.

Astronauts Reid Wiseman, Christina Koch and Victor Glover from NASA, along as Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen, captured the photographs using primarily Nikon cameras and iPhone 17s during the mission.

The newly released shots include spectacular views of Earth rising over the lunar horizon, along with extensive documentation of the spacecraft and the moon's surface during the flyby.

This marks the largest single release of imagery from a crewed lunar mission since the Apollo era, providing researchers and space enthusiasts with unprecedented access to visual documentation of the journey.
