Which designers would ‘House of the Dragon’ characters wear today?

Who says you can’t look chic while riding your dragon? 

As the Targaryen civil war ramps up in season three of HBO’s “House of the Dragon,” the outfits keep getting fiercer. 

We see less embroidery and more dramatic armor-like outfits ready for battle. 

In past seasons, costume designer Caroline McCall said she wanted to create a wardrobe with bespoke armor and dragon symbolism to emphasize the dragon-riding aesthetic, while also staying true to each house in the realm.

And if the houses of Westeros existed in 2026, they would be sitting front row at Paris Fashion Week.

Rhaenyra Targaryen: An Alexander McQueen muse? 

Queen Rhaenyra would never follow trends. She would define them.

Her wardrobe is reminiscent of Alexander McQueen, known for its dramatic tailoring and gothic romance silhouettes. 

This season, her new pieces include a dragon-scale black dress and the Dragonstone red dress, featuring militaristic high collars, velvet, leather and sharp shoulders. 

I can envision her in Vivienne Westwood or Ann Demeulemeester avant-garde, riding her dragon Syrax on her way to let her opponents know who’s the boss. 

Alicent Hightower: Regal in Dior

Rhaenyra’s ex-best friend and dowager queen is impossible to ignore whenever she wears House Hightower’s signature emerald green.

However, this season, Alicent's wardrobe is less elaborate and more muted as she grapples with the consequences of her past decisions.

If she existed today, she would no doubt be decked in Dior, Chanel and Schiaparelli. The green, fringe blazer recently featured in Jonathan Anderson’s Dior fall/winter 2026 couture collection is calling her name. 

Daemon Targaryen: The dark and fashionable prince

Given Daemon’s penchant for danger, the rogue prince would naturally fit right into a Rick Owens runway show even though he doesn't like being in the spotlight.

His style is effortless – monochromatic leather and distressed textures – which is why Owens would be an obvious choice.

In fact, Balenciaga (from the Demna era) would also suit Daemon with its oversized tailoring and severe shoulders. 

Regardless of luxury brands, this prince can make anything look cool even if he’s sporting a leather bomber jacket and combat boots. 

Corlys Velaryon: The legendary Sea Snake evoking old money

The Lord of the Tides’ wardrobe evokes Louis Vuitton — not for logos, but for craftsmanship rooted in travel, legacy and exceptional materials. 

Corlys today would wear the finest cashmere, wool, and linen, probably making Loro Piana and Brunello Cucinelli his go-to brands.

This season, he stayed true to his Velaryon blues, thick leather and layered cloaks fit for a maritime warrior.
