Elon Musk's X has begun rolling out its X Money cards, with early users posting pictures of the metal Visa debit cards on social media.

X Money is the billionaire's attempt to turn X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, into a broader financial hub.

The first cards appear to be reaching a limited group of paying subscribers in the United States, after a first public launch on July 27.

Social media user Ryan G commented: "Alright!! My X Money card arrived earlier than the tracking showed. I love how sleek the card looks."

X account American™ posted: "The metal card itself feels premium. Heavy, clean X, no clutter. Been waiting on this one. Feels good to finally have it in hand."

Laura Powell wrote: "Props to the design and marketing people behind the X Money card. Everyone in my family is impressed with the aesthetics."

Musk has said he wants users to be able to manage their "entire financial life" on the app, in a push towards a so-called "everything app" that combines messaging, payments and banking-style services in one place.

The service offers peer-to-peer transfers, a linked debit card and, for some users, an interest-bearing balance, although the wider rollout remains restricted for now.

"When I say payments, I actually mean someone's entire financial life....If it involves money. It'll be on our platform," Musk is reported to have said in 2023.
