Ticket that cost $12.50 to last Elvis concert sells for nearly $10,000

Rare surviving tickets to Elvis Presley's last ever live concert have sold for nearly $10,000.

The rock 'n' roll icon performed to a packed crowd of 18,000 people at the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis on June 26, 1977.

At the time, the ticket cost only $12.50.

During the concert he performed hits such as "Jailhouse Rock," "Don't Be Cruel" and "Hound Dog."

But tragically just seven weeks later, on Aug. 16 the "Blue Suede Shoes" star was found unresponsive on the bathroom floor of his home in Memphis, Tennessee, aged 42.

He was later pronounced dead — the cause was cardiac arrhythmia, which is an irregular heartbeat.

Twenty-five unused tickets from his Indianapolis farewell appear in the PSA slab, according to Heritage Auctions.

The collection is one of the five assessed at a chart-topping NM-MT 8 making them some of the most significant samples that exist.

They sold for $9,150 (£6,733.88) including buyer's premium during the auction in Austin, Texas, on Aug. 22.

The bid was won at $7,500 (£5,519.62).
