A dad got a surprise when his lemon tree grew five "adorable" lemons - the size of blueberries.

Aaron Weber, 48, won a tiny cutting from a lemon tree at his child's school fair just seven months ago.

He was not expecting any lemons this year as it can take years for lemon trees to grow fruit.

So the dad-of-four, Fairway, Kansas City, got the shock of his life when the tree grew five lemons - but they looked like they belonged in a doll's house.

The "adorable" lemons left he and partner Lydia Nebel, 31, in stitches - even adding one to a mug of tea to prove how small they were.

Aaron said: "We weren't expecting to get any fruit for a couple of years, so I was surprised when I saw tiny blooms, which dropped off.

"They're about the size of blueberries, and one is about the size of a grape.

"They were so perfectly proportioned, and up close they actually look like perfect lemons - until you see the size.

"Lydia thought they were adorable and even made me slice one up to put in tea.

"Unfortunately, they're edible but utterly flavorless."

The family plan to keep nurturing their tree and live in hope that next year they might finally see some full-sized lemons.

Aaron said: "This was just a surprise - they're adorable, but unfortunately there isn't much we can do with them.

"Hopefully we get bigger lemons in the future!
