This mystery pastry chef from the northeast of England specializes in creating the most spine-chilling pies you have ever seen.

The Vegan Pastry Chef, on TikTok, also known as Gracie Cakes, has accumulated nearly 2.2 million followers on her account with her specific brand of creepy bakes.

Gracie’s creations are both delicious and creepy looking with vegan meat and fruit pies shaped like faces, wonky teeth, blood spatters and buggy eyes.

Making something this scary AND delicious is hard enough on its own, but doing it with no animal products is even harder, but Gracie is nonchalant about it.

Gracie, who insists on remaining anonymous, “I have been a pastry chef for 10 years and I trained professionally for three years so vegan baking comes naturally to me.

"I used to figure out vegan recipes through trial and error but now there is a vegan recipe for anything out there!

“I was in a very dark place when I began making face pies and I often put these negative emotions into the expressions of the pies. It’s quite a cathartic experience.”

The pies she creates inhabit a very specific and strange level of horror that is intended to give off a slight creepiness and calming effect simultaneously.

“My intention when I started pie videos was to create something calming and nostalgic, like old children’s cartoons that seemed innocent but were really quite scary,” Gracie added.

It may be lost on some, but this is noticed by her viewers:

“This makes me feel at home,” said one.

“Am I the only one who feels comfy watching her videos?," asked another.

Another one said: “Scary but comforting at the same time, I love it.”

They are clearly an art piece, made for their appearance on video, but Gracie’s pies are delicious, as well.

We asked her which of her pies she enjoyed the most, “I have loved all the pies I have made but to pick a favourite, it would probably be the ‘Crusty Lady’ as this was the tastiest,” she said.

The Crusty Lady pie is a crumble with red berry filling, which can be seen in the video.

She added: “It usually takes me about three days to eat each pie but I ate this one in one day.”

Gracie, the secretive figure behind the account, hides her face and has asked to keep her age, full name and location secret to protect her privacy.

She also branches out into more high-budget content, has plans to potentially begin making full-on cooking show videos and even considered moving into puppeteering.

Gracie said: “I made a giant wearable pie mask earlier this year with the intention of branching out into a cooking show style format, and when I revealed the mask it was mostly well-received.

“With an audience this large, I did get a lot of hate too. So I didn’t want to reveal myself online again.

“This is why I made the puppet pie, however it is very difficult to control by myself which is why I only made one video with it.

“I would love to make more videos with the mask and puppet, hopefully when I feel more comfortable with the attention."
