Photographer captures jaw-dropping lightning storm on camera

A photographer has captured a jaw-dropping lightning storm on camera.
Ronald Kotinsky, 52, fought off Florida mosquitoes to document what he called "crazy lightning bolts" on Saturday, August 6.
The spectacle occurred 20-30 miles offshore of the city of Crystal River.
The 52-year-old, from Valrico, explains: "I went for a sunset storm photo session. Bad light with no colorful sunset, a few good bolts but my trigger missed them.
"Bloodsucking gnats and mosquitoes chewing me up good after 8:00 P.M. Almost ready to call it quits as I see the storm finally blow up into the stratosphere. Hungry now and late for dinner, do I stick it out?
"Storm finally starts lighting up and the answer is yes I stay and swing my micro-fiber like a tail to keep those bugs off of me.
"Darkness falls and now I can do 15-25 second exposures as the storm drops bolt after bolt from the top of the clouds.
"Normally lucky and happy to get one bolt from the blue this storm kept dropping them; the price I paid in blood paid dividends.
He added: "From about 9:00 to 10:00 P.M. the storm gave me what I wanted and more.
"Between 20-30 miles offshore this storm produced incredibly bright bolts. The 24-70mm lens worked nicely to frame out a lot of unique compositions including mangroves and rocks.
"The wide angle views will work nicely as full-sized art pieces."
