A glamorous estate agent has followed in her mother's footsteps after they were both crowned winners of a national beauty pageant - 12 months apart.

Chloe-Rose Adkin, 22, is the new Miss Galaxy 2023, just a year after her mom Helen, 58, won the UK’s National Classic Ms title at the same venue last summer.

Chloe-Rose has been taking part in pageants since she was 15-years-old after getting scouted as teenager.

She then entered her mom into her first competition without her knowing and a year later Helen was left stunned to be crowned a beauty queen winner.

Council worker Helen said she was apprehensive at first and worried she was too old for the stage but soon gained confidence hearing the crowd cheer her on.

The glam pair, from Mansfield, Notts., now enjoy getting ready for competitions together and say it’s great being able to spend time doing something they both love.

Chloe-Rose said: “I was trying to get my mom to compete for ages then I just decided to enter her in a pageant without her knowing.

“She had been helping me compete for years, she loves watching them and is always with me anyway, so I thought why not just get her into it as well.

“I wanted her to do something for herself and I thought this would be great.

“She is always helping me plan and we go and find outfits together, it’s really lovely to be able to have that time together.

“We get to spent time doing something we both love.

“People think we look similar, and everyone knows us as the duo.”

Mom-of-one Helen said pageants are not just for young people and loved how empowered taking part made her feel.

She said: "I was nervous at first when I found out Chloe had entered me, it was like am I too old for this.

"But I really loved it, it was so empowering and it gave me such a confidence boost.

"There were a lot of other ladies who supported me through it, pageants are not just a young person thing anymore.

"It's lovely that we both have crowns as mother and daughter.

"I have been running around at competition for Chloe for years, so it was really nice for her to be there for me when I needed her.

"At my age we tend to do everything for other people, so it was amazing to just have this for myself and work towards something just for me."

Helen competed for the first time at Mrs. Galaxy UK in 2021 alongside Chloe-Rose who took part in Miss Galaxy.

Chloe-Rose said it was difficult to watch her mom up on stage as she knew exactly how she would be feeling.

She said: “It was so difficult watching mom compete for the first time, I was so nervous for her.

“I knew everything she was going through and how nervous she would have been feeling so that was hard.

“It was role reversal.

“Mom was very nervous, I think she thought she was too old to do it.

“Before the competition she was apprehensive, but she loved it when she was on the stage.

“It gave her so much confidence.”

Chloe-Rose will now head to Orlando in August to represent the UK at the Miss Galaxy International Pageant finals, with mom Helen by her side.

She will take on the champions of countries such as Canada, Bahamas, India, and the USA.

The week will include photoshoots, a pajama party and a white party, where all the guests must dress in their best all-white outfits.

She said: “I’m so honored to represent the UK in Florida. It has been a four-year process and I’m excited my dream has finally come true.

“I am looking forward to spending the year doing more fundraising and attending events across the country.”
