A brave farmer's daughter, aged just 9, stepped in to help a ewe that was struggling with a really difficult breech birth.

Marli Goff was filmed with an arm deep inside a ewe that was struggling after her lamb's head got stuck as it was giving birth.

Marli's mom Ellie Goff, 43, stumbled upon the ewe in labor during her morning farm checks but had no gloves on her to cover a finger injury and was vulnerable to infection.

Marli, who has grown up on the Wellies-On Farm in Abberton, UK, didn't hesitate before helping her mom and the ewe.

Ellie, a mom of three who established Wellies-On Farm 18 years ago, said: "Marli has assisted with lambing before, but this was the first really difficult birth she’s done.

“She’s helped with a breech delivery before, but it was a relatively straightforward one and this lamb was very stuck.

“She was more than delighted she needed to be the one to do it...and gladly stepped in and assisted."

According to Ellie, Marli loves to get involved with everything on the farm and had joined her on her morning rounds that day when they discovered the ewe in labor.

The video shows Marli find the lamb's head, right the lamb's position and then guide it out feet first.

She then gave the lamb aftercare before showing it to its mum, named Smudge.

Marli decided to name the lamb Misty, and both the lamb and ewe are now thriving.

Marli already had a pet sheep of her own, Mary, whom she adores caring for.

Ellie said: "She's definitely eager to do more. She's my little shepherdess. She lives and breathes to be with the animals."

Ellie established the Wellies-On therapeutic farm to offer support to people who could benefit from the company of animals and nature.

The ex-teacher works with people from a women's shelter, people with learning difficulties or mental health conditions and those struggling with homelessness.

The farm works with the University of Essex and occupational therapy students to support interactions with the service users and the flock of sheep, goats, chickens as well as other furry creatures.
