Grandad-of-four Terry Hutt, 88, has devotedly attended all Royal events and was nicknamed 'Union Jack Man' by Elizabeth II.

He had a cataract operation on Tuesday - but still hopes to travel to London to see King Charles III take the throne.

Terry, of Weston-Super-Mare, UK, said: "I've got my fingers and toes crossed that I can go.

"I'm hoping to be there for the Coronation, to see all those happy faces.

"I will wear my suit, I even wear it to answer the door."

He added: "My eyesight is getting better by the minute.

"It's great to be alive."
