Clumsy bride accidentally knocks wedding cake to the floor

A “clumsy” bride destroyed her wedding cake when she accidentally knocked it on the floor - and the hilarious moment was caught on camera.

Briana Dutton, 28, had been cutting a second slice of her $350 cake when it toppled to the ground - smashing into pieces.

The newlywed saw the moment play out in slow motion and was told she called out, “it’s buttercream,” as it fell.

Luckily, Briana and her husband, Taylor Dutton, 30, who works in HR, couldn’t help but laugh as guests rushed to try and salvage what was left of the cake.

Staff were still able to scrape off a layer that hadn’t touched the ground to serve to the guests – who said it was “delicious.”

Briana, an executive assistant, from Sydney, Australia, said: “Everyone would say I’m clumsy.

“The venue had put the cake on a cake stand.

“I put the knife in to cut the second piece.

“I think the cake was too heavy for the stand and as I put the knife down the cake slipped.

“I saw it happen in slow motion.

“It was in pieces on the floor.

“Everyone came running up to scrape cake off the floor, but everyone was laughing.

“They said I yelled out ‘its buttercream’ as it fell.”

Briana said after cutting the cake she and Taylor went straight into their first dance and the moment was forgotten until she saw slices of the cake being handed out.

She said: “I freaked out thinking, ‘that’s been on the floor.’

“But they had cut the top layer that hadn’t touched the ground.”

The couple's photographer, Alex Marks, snapped the moment the cake fell to the floor.

Briana said: “They are my favorite photos of the wedding.

“They are so real. I just adore them.

“Everyone said, ‘of course it happened to you.’

“I just couldn’t believe it happened.”

The blundering bride had another mishap at her hen do – when she tripped and ripped her dress on her bottom.

She said: “I fell down the stairs.

“The back of my entire dress split.

“My whole bum was showing.

“My friends used my mini veil and pinned it to my bum like a rabbit tail.”

Despite the disasters Briana said her wedding day was “perfect”.

She said: “It really was the best day of my life.”
