A deer got stuck between the bars of a metal gate had to be rescued by emergency service workers with a "jaws of life" hydraulic tool.

The deer had lodged itself between two bars of a fence outside a residence in Denver, Colo.

Emergency response officers from the fire department and police worked together to free the animal.

The fire department had to resort to prying open the bars in the fence using a hydraulic rescue tool known as “the jaws of life."

The deer was quickly freed and scampered away.

Denver's South Metro Fire Rescue posted a statement on social media saying: "Around 5:30 a.m. on Monday, SMFR and Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to a deer trapped in a fence near Park Meadows Dr. and Station Way.
