A Space Station astronaut has shown Earth as a winter wonderland.

Texas native Loral O'Hara has trained her camera on the colder parts of the planet to show what she describes as "Winter settling over Earth".

The 40-year-old NASA spaceperson has captured colder climes from Wyoming to the Himalayas from 260 miles up.

She explains: "I can’t get enough of these white, gray, and blue palettes."

Capturing another atmospheric image of the planet, O'Hara commented: "In celebration of winter solstice: this photo of Earth covered by clouds that look like moonlight on fresh snow taken."

O’Hara launched and docked to the International Space Station aboard a Soyuz rocket on 15 September.
