First edition of Amazing Spider-Man comic sells for record $1.38 million

Look out, here comes a record-breaking Spider-Man comic sale.

A first edition of the Amazing Spider-Man comic has sold for a record £1,086,990 ($1.38 million).

The 1963 publication, one of only two near-mint condition copies, sold for nearly three times the amount realized for a copy that went for £446,163 ($520,380) in July 2023.

Dallas-based Heritage Auctions also had heroic results in selling a Superman No. 1 comic for £2,006,269 ($2.34 million) and the single highest-graded copy of 1942’s All Star Comics No. 8, featuring the debut of Wonder Woman, which achieved £1,182,166 ($1.5 million).

Heritage Auctions Vice President Barry Sandoval said: "It was obvious this Spider-Man was an opportunity not likely to come around, and the final price reflected that."

The Comics & Comic Art auction event ended on January 14.
