Indiana Jones’ whip sells for over half a million in Planet Hollywood auction

The striking weapon was yielded by Harrison Ford's iconic character in 1984's "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom."

An Indiana Jones' signature bullwhip that sold for $525k was the highlight of a Planet Hollywood prop auction on Thursday, March 21.

The striking weapon was yielded by Harrison Ford's iconic character in 1984's "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom".

Hundreds of iconic props and costumes from Planet Hollywood restaurants have gone under the hammer this week.

Other sales from the Dallas-based Heritage Auctions event included a blaster used by Princess Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) in "Return of the Jedi" ($150k), a Marilyn Monroe pink dress from 1960 film "Let's Make Love" ($137.5k), and the Holy Grail cup from "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" ($87.5).

A replica of Monroe's dress from "The Seven Year Itch", where the original billowed over a subway grate, went for $78k. It was created by legendary Marilyn costume designer Bill Travilla for museum exhibitions.

A battle-distressed leather jacket worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 2: Judgment Day sold for $52.5k.

More than 1,600 items are being offered in the sale, ranging from a Planet Hollywood restaurant sign to the wood panel upon which Kate Winslet stayed afloat in Titanic.

Planet Hollywood was founded in 1991 by a group of Hollywood stars, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, and Demi Moore, among others.

Each Planet Hollywood location typically features movie memorabilia, props, and costumes from various films.

The auction runs from March 20-24.
