An 'X-rated' home known as 'Willy House', with a series of 'phallic' topiary trees in the garden is on sale for $1,368,129 (£1million).

The property in the tranquil village of Cross near Axbridge in Somerset, England has been turning heads for more than 20 years.

Its phallus-shaped greenery looms over the Mendip Hills, in a village where "Carry-On" star Frankie Howerd once resided.

Owner Peter Knife has previously said he has no idea how the hedges were shaped and has had no complaints.

"I've lived at the house for 20 years with my wife and it's always been known as the 'willy house' by children who go to a school nearby," the grandfather of three said a few years ago.

"It doesn't bother me in the slightest.

"I've also had people walk past my house and ask me how I keep my hedges so well-maintained.

The17th-century property is on the market priced at $1,265,677 (£925,000).

It boasts five bedrooms, a stable block and a separate one-bedroom cottage - perfectly suited to an Airbnb business.

In a listing on their website, estate agents Cooper and Tanner labelled the home as "a unique landmark in this rural community."

They added: "The stunning 200-year-old topiary yew trees adorning the landscaped front garden, and the elegant pale-yellow façade, belies a welcoming interior with old 'farmhouse' warmth and charm, and a plethora of original features."
