The windows of this town have been transformed into beautiful works of art, in an annual tradition that began during lockdown.

The 'Window Wanderland' exhibition began in England in 2020 while people were cooped up during the pandemic.

It has since spread across the United Kingdom and anyone with some glass to paint and illuminate is invited to participate in the outdoor gallery events.

Houses, apartments, sheds, bars, cafes, shops and offices all have their glass decorated by members of the community, as a safe way to bring people together during the stress of COVID-19.

Camper vans, tractors, libraries and churches also get the colorful treatment, which attracts crowds from miles around.

The theme for 2022 is 'passion. Funds are being raised to support communities to "make magical window displays, reduce social isolation and give everyone something to smile about," according to the site.

"Being part of the Window Wanderland community has been an amazing experience for me," said Karen Haynes, organizer of the Portishead Window Wanderland.

"I was overwhelmed by the positivity, support and local appetite to get involved. It’s a great feeling to be part of such a positive event for where you live."
