Lower gas prices mean more winter road trips for Americans

ABOUT A THIRD (31%) OF AMERICANS TOOK FEWER ROAD TRIPS THIS SUMMER SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE OF GAS PRICES.

ONEPOLL AND COBRA SURVEYED 2,000 DRIVERS AND FOUND NEARLY A FIFTH (19%) SAY FALLING COSTS WILL IMPACT HOW OFTEN THEY HIT THE ROAD THIS WINTER .

WHILE TWO IN FIVE (38%) SAY THEY TOOK ONE OR TWO ROAD TRIPS LAST WINTER, ONE IN FIVE (19%) PLAN ON TAKING MORE THIS YEAR.

MORE THAN A THIRD OF AMERICANS WILL BE DRIVING TO SPEND THE HOLIDAYS AWAY FROM HOME THIS YEAR (39%), WITH THE AVERAGE PERSON DRIVING 116 MILES, OR THREE AND A HALF HOURS, TO THEIR HOLIDAY EVENT OR FESTIVITY.     

Survey methodology:

This random double-opt-in survey of 2,000 people who drive was commissioned by Cobra between October 18 and October 24, 2022. It was conducted by market research company OnePoll, whose team members are members of the Market Research Society and have corporate membership to the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) and the European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research (ESOMAR).
