A walker had to be rescued from a beach by hovercraft -  after getting stuck in thick mud.

The unfortunate female apparently lost her footing while attempting to walk through a patch of boggy sand.

Burnham-On-Sea's Burnham Coastguard Mud Rescue Team had to be called to the Somerset, England town beach on Jan. 10 to help free her.

Her husband quickly raised the alarm and she was quickly pulled out of the mud with the help of the rescue team.

Pictures of the incident show the lady stuck on her front unable to move as a hovercraft arrived on the scene to assist.

A spokesperson for the rescue team said: “The lady was simply unlucky to lose her footing and had got into difficulty in a patch of mud.

"We were happy to help her alongside the Coastguard team with a quick, successful outcome.”
