HOW OFTEN DO YOU PICK UP THE PHONE TO CALL YOUR OWN MOM OR DAD FOR ADVICE?

WELL, NEW RESEARCH REVEALS THAT THE AVERAGE PARENT CALLS THEIR OWN PARENT TWICE A WEEK FOR GUIDANCE, AND ONE IN EIGHT CALL THEM MOST DAYS OF THE WEEK.

THAT’S ACCORDING A NEW SURVEY OF 4,000 AMERICAN AND CANADIAN PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS THAT FOUND THAT JUST 59% OF PARENTS FOLLOW THEIR MOM AND DAD’S ADVICE ABOUT PARENTING.

THAT’S BECAUSE SOME FIND THEIR OWN PARENTS’ ADVICE OUTDATED (34%) OR JUST HAVE DIFFERENT IDEAS ON HOW TO RAISE THEIR CHILDREN (41%).

CONDUCTED BY ONEPOLL ON BEHALF OF JOHNSON’S BABY FOR NATIONAL CAREGIVERS MONTH, THE SURVEY FOUND, HOWEVER, THAT A WHOPPING 83% OF PARENTS SAID THEY’VE LEARNED A LOT ABOUT CHILD-REARING FROM THEIR OWN MOTHER OR FATHER.

Survey methodology:

This random double-opt-in survey of 4,000 parents and grandparents of kids 0-7 from the US and Canada was commissioned by Johnson’s Baby between October 4 and October 11, 2023. It was conducted by market research company OnePoll, whose team members are members of the Market Research Society and have corporate membership to the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) and the European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research (ESOMAR).
