ARE YOU GUILTY OF TRUSTING ‘DOCTOR GOOGLE?’

NEW RESEARCH REVEALS THAT NOT ONLY DO THREE IN FOUR AMERICANS (77%) ADMIT TO DOING SOME HEALTH-RELATED RESEARCH IN THEIR SPARE TIME, ANOTHER 68% ARE GUILTY OF ‘PATIENT-SPLAINING’ THOSE FINDINGS TO THEIR DOCTOR.

A SURVEY OF 2,000 U.S. ADULTS REVEALED THAT AMERICANS ARE EQUALLY LIKELY TO SCHEDULE A DOCTOR’S APPOINTMENT (30%) AS THEY ARE TO LOOK UP THEIR CONCERNS ONLINE (32%) WHEN THEY EXPERIENCE A CHANGE IN THEIR BODIES.

CONDUCTED BY ONEPOLL ON BEHALF OF VIMERGY, THE SURVEY ALSO FOUND THAT WHILE 80% FIND THEIR DOCTOR’S ADVICE TO BE USEFUL, 30% WORRY THAT IT ISN’T SPECIFIC ENOUGH TO THEIR NEEDS.

NOT ONLY THAT, BUT THE AVERAGE AMERICAN ESTIMATES THAT JUST OVER HALF OF THEIR HEALTH ISSUES WERE ACTUALLY ADDRESSED THE LAST TIME THEY SAW THEIR DOCTOR.

Survey methodology:

This random double-opt-in survey of 2,000 general population Americans was commissioned by Vimergy between Feb. 8 and Feb. 11, 2024. It was conducted by market research company OnePoll, whose team members are members of the Market Research Society and have corporate membership to the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) and the European Society for Opinion and Marketing Research (ESOMAR).
