Baker who created GIANT Grinch cake stunned by Jim Carrey’s response

A talented mom who baked a life-sized cake of The Grinch was left stunned after her incredible creation was praised by Hollywood superstar Jim Carrey.

Lara Mason, 35, made the whopping 250 lb (17 stone) cake because she had always been a fan of the 2000 Christmas film starring her favorite actor.

She set aside 17 days to design and bake the festive treat but after requiring surgery and contracting COVID-19 it gave her only three days to complete.

Full-time baker Lara used ingredients left over from previous cakes stored in her freezer as well as colorful ganache and coco butter to make the 5 ft tall creation at home.

And after uploading a video to her YouTube channel, she was left star-struck when "The Grinch" actor himself shared the footage on social media on Boxing Day.

"My ultimate goal is not just to be admired by fans, but to be eaten by them. I wonder if she does an angel food Ace Ventura," he wrote.

Lara, from Brownhills, England said: "I got a call from my friend who said that Jim Carrey had tweeted a link to my YouTube Channel. I was in complete shock; he is my favorite actor.

"My video had only been seen by two thousand people and one of those was Jim Carrey - it was mind-blowing.

"After he shared it, it has had over 20 million views on TikTok.

"You know you have done a good job when you see your stuff go worldwide."

After being challenged by "The Mask" and "Dumb and Dumber" star, Lara said she has already has some ideas for her next cake.

"I am not really one to turn down a challenge, so that might be happening next," she said.

Mom-of-two Lara, who owns a baking company called Cake Anything, baked the cake with the help of her husband Nick, 33, who assisted with the structure.

"It was certainly a challenge to give myself just three days to complete with this especially with recovering from surgery, having Covid and two small children," she said.

"I had tried to make a Grinch cake about nine years ago, and that didn't quite go to plan, so I wanted another shot at it. This time it turned out really well.

"This time, I wanted to get it right. We started with an internal frame which was made by my husband and we started to slowly build around that.

"It is made out of normal sponge cake which was the stacked-on top of each other; between each layer is vanilla and chocolate frosting.

"It is then covered chocolate ganache, which is left to set and go firm.

"Then I used muzzling chocolate which is golden syrup and white chocolate which because like an edible plasticine.

"You then paint it with coco butter and food coloring.

"I am going to keep my recipe a secret - it is my very own trade secret.

"My intention was to cut it up and give it to my children's school, but because I had Covid making it, that cannot be done so the animals will get to enjoy it instead."
