A fleet of Porsches turned up to give nursing home residents a joy ride as a treat after the pandemic.

The luxury motors arrived at Stratton Court in Cirencester, England, last week as a present for residents.

After admiring the cars - some of which are worth more than £100,000 ($119,954)- some lucky residents were given a spin around the nearby town.

One, named June, said: "What a thrill to be driven in a Porsche! Fresh air, with sunshine and a beautiful car...It was just lovely!"

The event was organized by the nursing home's parent company Aura Care Living and a local Porsche GB club.

Nick Taylor, who manages the car club, said: "We were delighted to come to Stratton and bring a little excitement to their residents.

"It’s been so tough for everyone living and working in care homes so it was fabulous to be able to offer some true 'joy rides.'

"Lots of them have admired and even owned Porsches over their lives. Porsche celebrates its 75th birthday next year and our club has just celebrated its 60th.

"So none of of us are getting any younger but the thrill of a riding in a beautifully engineered car, on a summers day is timeless.

"One of the residents asked, 'Will you come back again? Because I intend still being here.'

"We certainly will."

Another resident named Fred said he used to work with Porsche cars. He added of the event: "It is just so fantastic."

Linda Lloyd, CEO of Aura Care Living said: “The Aura Care team have been a constant source of joy and hope during such dark times.

"And these events have been made possible by our amazing staff who care so much for our wonderful residents."
