Several buildings and cars were damaged after a rare tornado hit California, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

The tornado hit Montebello, less than 10 miles southeast of Los Angeles, California on Wednesday.

Videos shared by local residents show the tornado lifting debris in a swirling funnel and shearing parts off a roof.

Another video showed a large, dark funnel cloud in the distance.

Footage of the aftermath showed multiple damaged cars, along with a broken fence and debris everywhere.

One person was injured and was taken to a hospital.
